Government Confirms No Need for Franchising Regulation in New Zealand.

We previously reported that the Government had published a Discussion Document concerning a review of Franchising Regulation in New Zealand. 32 submissions were made including separate submissions from Stewart Germann and Clive Neifeld, Partners of SGL.

The Honourable Simon Power, Minister of Commerce, recently announced the outcomes of the Review of Franchising Regulation and the Government has stated that "there is not strong evidence that franchise contracts are unique from other forms of doing business, or of widespread problems in the Franchising Sector, which require franchise specific regulation".
